MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
Morgan County Deputies responded to the Madison Pentecostal Church on Morris Road on Jan. 25 to investigate an alarm going off.
Deputies discovered that the front door was not secure, and it appeared someone had been attempting to do work on the alarm panel. Deputies were unable to speak with a key holder at the time of the incident.
A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Pierce Dairy Road address on Jan. 26 in reference to a theft report. The complainant said two exterior air conditioning units valued at $3,800 each were missing from his residence. An examination of the scene revealed tire impressions in the sod that indicated that someone had turned around in the driveway and backed up to the area where the units had been sitting.
A Morgan County deputy met with a local resident at the Public Safety Complex on Jan. 26 in reference to a possible scam. The complainant told a deputy he had received an alert on his Chromebook about a virus and was directed to call Microsoft to fix it. When he called the number, he spoke with several people who claimed to be Microsoft employees, and they said he would have paid them to fix the Chromebook. The complainant said he gave them a total of $6,700 on a dozen Target and Apple gift cards but that he still needed to give them more money. According to the report, the Chromebook functioned after it was shut down and rebooted. The complainant was advised not to send anyone money if he experienced another similar situation.
Kandra Hardy, 43, of Madison was arrested on Jan. 26 and charged with obstruction.
A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Bishop address on Jan. 29 in reference to a complaint of child molestation. The incident was turned over to investigations.
A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Sewell Lane address on Jan. 28 in reference to the theft of packages from a mailbox. The case is under investigation.
A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Bethany Church Road address on Jan. 28 regarding the death of sheep. The complainant said two of his neighbor’s dogs got into his pasture and killed a bunch of his sheep. The complainant said he killed the two dogs that had come on his property. According to the report, it was unknown how many sheep were killed or injured. The deputy attempted to contact the owner of the dogs to no avail.
A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Mallard Ridge Road address on Jan. 28 in reference to theft by deception. The complainant said he was trying to buy a dog and became suspicious when the seller would not give a date to pick up the dog after he had purchased it through PayPal. A Bleckley County officer contacted the seller who said someone may have stolen her identity again.
A deputy was dispatched to an Indian Creek Trail address on Jan. 29 in reference to a missing check.
The complainant said he had his bank cut him a check for $100,000 to purchase a home, but the check went missing from the desk at his home sometime on Jan. 30. The check had not been cashed as of 10 p.m. that night.
A warrant is being sought for Ricky Dale Johnson, 44, of Monticello on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, obstruction of officers, driving while license suspended, and taillight requirement violations.
MADISON POLICE DEPARTMENT
A Madison Police officer was dispatched to a Meadow Ridge Drive address on Jan. 21 in reference to a stolen vehicle report. The complainant said his 2015 black Chevy Impala had been stolen from his residence while he was away. The officer later found out that the complainant had wrecked his vehicle in Walton County and left the scene of the accident at 2:40 a.m., according to the report. The complainant was not at his residence when officers arrived to ask him about the incident.
Sidney Eugene White, 71, of Atlanta was arrested on Jan. 19 and charged with forgery in the third degree. White told police officers that a young black male stopped him while he was crossing a street in Atlanta and asked him if he had identification. When he said he did, the man asked him if he wanted to make $500. White was then taken to an apartment building and waited in the man’s truck while he went inside. When he returned, he handed White a check with his name printed on it and told him all he had to do was cash the check for $1,700 and give the man $1,200. He then dropped him off at the Bottle Shop on Eatonton Road. The unknown male was not on the scene when the officer looked for him at that location. White was transported to the Morgan County jail.
A Madison police officer was dispatched to the Pilot station on Eatonton Road on Jan. 23 in reference to a theft report. An employee of the business said $1,160 was missing from the gambling machines inside the Pilot. The video showed individuals using a technique to trick the machines into giving them credit for the $20 and cashing out the register with a voucher for $600.
Lori Nicole Thomas, 32, of Conyers was arrested on Jan. 23 and charged with attempting to obtain dangerous drugs by fraud. According to the report, Thomas was attempting to obtain a prescription for Tramadol using someone else’s name and providing a number for a doctor’s office that was not in service. It was learned that Thomas had successfully obtained a prescription fraudulently on Jan. 17. Thomas was also given a trespass notice for the Ingles property.
The Madison Police Department was contacted by a woman regarding a stolen credit card on Jan. 26. The complainant said someone used her card at the Walmart in Madison to purchase items totaling $500. A review of video footage showed a black female wearing a long green coat, black shirt, and black pants attempting to purchase multiple items using the complainant's credit card that she took out of the complainant’s wallet at the checkout area, but the purchase was declined by the bank. The suspect then tried to use two other cards, which were declined. She then used a Discover card to purchase a $500 Apple card and threw away the complainant’s wallet as she left the store. She left the parking lot in a small red sedan.
A warrant has been filed for the arrest of April Lashondra Carter, 40, of Madison on shoplifting charges. According to the report, Carter had shoplifted multiple times between Sept. 23 and Nov. 27 of last year.
A Madison police officer received a report of a stolen firearm on Jan. 26. The complainant said her Black Taurus model PT111 was taken.

On Jan. 25, Deputies arrested Kenneth Hatcher, Jr., 117 Middle Hill Road, Warthen, for a window tint violation and driving while their license suspended.
On Jan. 28, deputies arrested Jacob Davis Pitts, 1780 Woodville Road, Union Point, for criminal trespass and simple battery (FV).
On Jan. 27, deputies arrested Simya Luverta Pitts, 284 Log Cabin Road, Milledgeville, for financial transaction card fraud.
On Jan. 26, deputies arrested Michael Quincy Pyatt, 78 Ashley Hall Plantation Road, Charleston, South Carolina, for disorderly conduct.
On January 24, 2023, Deputies arrested Roderick Clifton Scott, Jr., 1012 Swan Lane, Columbia, South Carolina, for possession of drugs not kept in the original container, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and three counts of possession of the controlled substance.
On January 29, 2023, Deputies arrested Kadar Machai Sims, 27 East Pine Court, Irmo, South Carolina, for improper U-turn, suspended registration, and driving while their license was suspended.
On Jan. 24, deputies arrested Tara Elizabeth Stewart, 40 Orchard Drive, Covington, for simple battery.
On Jan. 27, deputies arrested Kenneth Williams, 1491 Lewis Road, White Plains, for reckless driving and DUI.
On Jan. 29, deputies arrested Cedric Dewayne Wilson, 2016 Austin Park Circle, Decatur, for speeding and DUI.
GREENSBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT
On Sunday, Jan. 22, officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of East Broad Street for a violation of headlight requirements. The driver was identified as Danny Porter Jr., 44, of Greensboro GA. After further investigation, Porter was arrested on for the headlight requirement violation and driving while their license was suspended.
On Monday, Jan. 23, officers met with a complainant at GPD in reference to a civil matter. The individual stated that toys were taken out of her yard without permission. The individual that took the items sent a text stating that he was owed money for lawn maintenance. The individual was advised that the matter would have to be solved in magistrate court.
On Tuesday, Jan. 24, officers responded to the area of North East Street in reference to an individual attempting to cash a fraudulent check. While the bank attempted to verify the information on the check the individual left the area. The incident was turned over to investigators.
On Tuesday, Jan. 24, officers responded to the area of North Main Street in reference to an individual having suicidal thoughts. The incident was turned over to Greene County EMS.
On Tuesday, Jan.24, officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding (50 mph in a 35-mph zone) in the area of South Main Street. The driver was identified as Justin Mallory, 22, of Greensboro. After further investigation, Mallory was issued citations for speeding and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
On Thursday, Jan. 26, officers responded to the area of MLK Jr. Drive in reference to a civil matter. After further investigation, Leleka Kaylesha Redd, 40, of White Plains was arrested on a warrant out of Greene County.
On Friday, Jan. 27, officers responded to the area of Union Point Highway in reference to a forgery complaint. The complainant stated that someone cashed a fraudulent check. The incident was turned over to investigators.
On Friday, Jan. 27, officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in violation of a taillight requirement in the area of MLK Jr. Drive.
The driver was identified as Frederick Gartrell Parks, 59, of Greensboro. After further investigation, Parks was arrested on charges of a taillight requirement violation and driving while their license was suspended.
On Friday, Jan. 27, officers responded to the area of Pinecrest Drive in reference to a criminal trespassing complaint. The complainant stated that he wanted his sister off of his property. The sister, Tokesha Smith, 46, of Greensboro, stated that she wanted to retrieve her property. The complainant stated that she had not been on the property in two years and wished to have Smith criminally trespassed. Smith was advised to speak with the Probate Judge to get permission to go back to the property to retrieve her items. Smith was issued a criminal trespassing warning for the property of 108 Pinecrest Drive, Greensboro.
On Saturday, Jan. 28, officers responded to the area of Pinecrest Drive in reference to a child molestation complaint. The incident was turned over to investigators.
On Saturday, Jan. 28, officers responded to the area of Oconee Avenue in reference to a dog bite. The incident was turned over to Greene County Animal Control and Greene County EMS.
For the week of January 22-28, the Greensboro Police Department responded to two accidents, and eight citations were issued.
