Community Roots Market reopens three months after downtown fire

Cindi Fetch, owner of Community Roots, lost more than half of her space inside the market as a result of the building’s fire in July. She is finding creative ways to use front space that wasn’t impacted from the damage. CONTRIBUTED
Since the fire destroyed the market’s back room, the choice wines are now relocated to the front of the store. Fetch said some of the furniture survived, including shelves made from reclaimed wood from the Hart and Crown Tavern. CONTRIBUTED
Downtown Madison’s Community Roots Market has officially reopened to the public, resuming sales of goods from local farmers and producers.
The small business temporarily closed in July after a fire destroyed a large portion of the building, including Betty Gene’s Diner.
