Rich: One million words

One million words ago, I started this column.That’s a lot of stories to tell.Additionally, I have written eleven books, including one that was adapted into a television movie and another that is nearing its 50th printing.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors turns five

Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a 501(C)3 non-profit serving Greene and Putnam counties, celebrated its fifth anniversary June 4 with a ‘Picnic With Purpose.’ Despite heavy rain throughout the day, many donors, volunteers, members, and prospective members attended the event.
Chloe, a five-year-old female tortoiseshell cat, is available for adoption at the Humane Society of Morgan County. She has spent six months in the shelter and has yet to find a permanent home. CONTRIBUTED

HSMC, Harvest & Honey host ‘Coffee with Cats’

The Humane Society of Morgan County has launched a new monthly event, “Coffee with Cats,” with Harvest & Honey, a catering service in Rutledge. The recurring adoption event began in March and takes place on the third Saturday of every month.Coffee with Cats takes place at HSMC from 10:00 a.m.

Lake Country Juried Art Show opens

The opening night of the Ninth Annual Lake Country Juried Art Show happens Thursday, June 19.  This annual event, presented by The Artisans Village Guild, attracts talented artists from all over the state. Says Cathy McIntire, show Chairperson, “Each year attracts more artists and beautiful work.

Lake Oconee Lutheran hosts benefit concert

Lake Oconee Lutheran Church hosted a benefit concert on May 20, raising $3,400 for The Victory Train.This free concert was presented by the East Georgia Concert Chorale, directed by Dr. Brian Williams, and accompanied on piano by his wife, Dr. Jana Williams, who is also a singer and harpist.
