Farmer’s Market returns to Harmony Crossing

Since 2007, the Lake Oconee Farmer’s Market at Harmony Crossing has been an important part of Eatonton’s summer and fall seasons. It currently boasts more than 40 vendors who participate each week from May to December.During the summer, from 8 a.m. to noon each Saturday until Sept.

Local artists celebrated at juried art show

The Artisans Village Guild held a reception for its 9th annual Lake Country Juried Art Show on June 19 at Barrel 118 in Eatonton. Several awards were presented to artists that night, including the prestigious People’s Choice award, which went to Dr. Edward Hubach for “Fury,” depicting a black horse.

BBQ & Music Fest a summer success

The third annual Lake Oconee BBQ & Music Fest was held at the Pecan Grove at the Farm on Oconee. With clear skies and perfect conditions, more than 1,500 people enjoyed great food and heard some of the best music from Tim Cardiere and Tailgate, as well as Scott Deering and Fiddle in the Band.

4th of July boat parade to celebrate 6th anniversary

The Lake Oconee Independence Day boat parade has been a staple in Morgan County for more than a decade.The boat parade was an idea conceived by resident Joe Williamson six years ago, and it has since grown into an annual event on the northeastern side of the lake.

Indoor play village opens in Madison

Imagine That recently opened its doors to the Madison community with its June 6 ribbon-cutting ceremony held by the Madison-Morgan Chamber of Commerce. The business held its grand opening the following afternoon with several activities for parents and children.

MCCS recognizes teachers, staff at celebration

During its End-of-Year Celebration on May 28, Morgan County Charter Schools (MCCS) awarded the “Going Beyond” service coin to Chelsea Hayes, Dr. Dennis Fordham, and Dr. Virgil Cole, whose leadership, courage, and compassion have made a lasting impact on the district.
