More than 100 people gathered to pray at Morgan County High School on Sept. 10 following the shooting at Apalachee High School six days earlier that left four dead and nine injured.
“I wanted to hold a community night of prayer to bring our community together to pray over our children and for the lives lost in the school shooting at Apalachee High School,” organizer and mental health counselor Shontell White said about the prayer vigil.
Several area pastors offered words of prayer and encouragement at the event.
The attending pastors included Pastor Griffin Gulledge of Madison Baptist Church, Pastor Anthony Williams of Thankful Baptist Church, Pastor Aaron Carter Sr. of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Pastor Steve Craig of Bethany Baptist Church, and Pastor Derrick Worrell of First St. Paul Baptist Church.
Morgan County High School senior Amani Sanders also sang during the event.
White thanked participants and attendees for making the event successful, and said anyone needing mental health services could contact Madison Family Counseling.
