Tigers lose heartbreaker in playoffs

Greene County lost a heartbreaker last Friday against defending state champion Bowdon on the road. The Red Devils trailed for most of the game but took a 28-23 lead with under a minute left. However, the Tigers didn’t go down easy as they marched down the field and tried to retake the lead.

Tigers blank Bulldogs to move forward

The Greene County football team left no doubt that it wants to make a run in the GHSA state playoffs after routing Hancock Central last Friday. The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 42-0 at home, and head coach Terrance Banks’ offense started the game strong.

Greene County travels to Bowdon for second round

After leaving Tiger Stadium with a shutout win last Friday, Greene County football has to prepare to travel to the other side of Atlanta to play Bowdon High School in the second round of the Class A Division II state playoffs this Friday.

Tigers tame Washington-Wilkes on Senior Night

Greene County High School recognized its seniors on Friday night before the regular season finale. The Tigers hosted rival Washington-Wilkes in a battle for playoff seeding, and they came away with a 20-10 victory.

Greene County to replay Bulldogs for postseason opener

Greene County will host Hancock Central this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the first round of the GHSA state playoffs. The Tigers have already seen what the Bulldogs have to offer after crushing them on the road by almost 40 points in their third game of the year.

Tigers drop first game of season to Aquinas Fighting Irish

The Greene County football team lost its first game of the season to Aquinas last Friday in a close 14-10 dogfight. With the loss, the Tigers are still in contention for the top spot in the region, but they were unable to clinch that last week.

Tigers stifle Red Devils to take top spot in region

Greene County head coach Terrance Banks was mad about the celebratory Gatorade bath he received, but he was happy that the Tigers defeated rival Lincoln County to stay undefeated. The Red Devils had no answer to the Tigers’ stout defense and turned the ball over multiple times in their 28-3 loss.
