Rivian lands federal loan to restart EV plant

A nearly $6 billion federal loan will help electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian restart construction of a $5 billion vehicle and battery plant near Covington, U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., announced Tuesday.When it was announced in late 2021, the project was expected to create 7,500 jobs.

JDA provides update on Rivian’s Georgia plant

While Rivian has paused construction on its $5 billion plant at the Stanton Springs North site in Morgan and Walton counties, site work remains ongoing.The Joint Development Authority of Jasper, Morgan, Newton & Walton Counties provided an update on the site at its July 23 meeting.

Rivian pulls plug on EV plant for now

Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Rivian announced on March 7 that it is delaying indefinitely its plan to build an EV plant east of Atlanta, near Madison. Instead, Rivian said it will initially begin building its new R2 midsize SUV at its present location in Illinois.
