Short-term rental hearings on the way

The first of two special public hearings on probable controls for short-term rentals was held on March 23 at the Putnam County administration building, led by the Putnam County Board of Commissioners. A second hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m.

Eatonton city council addresses housing developments

Two separate housing possibilities provided the focus for Monday evening’s Eatonton City Council mid-month meeting. The first came in a rezoning of 26-plus acres on Monticello Road (Ga. 16) across the road from Ingle’s grocery store.

Gators feast on Cougars with back-to-back wins

Gatewood baseball extended their winning streak to four last week. The Gators defeated Piedmont Academy 2-1 at home on March 14, and two days later, the Gators beat the Cougars 9-5 in Monticello.

Gatewood continues strong track-and-field start

The Gatewood Gators boys’ and girls’ track and field teams got off to a good start in the first week of the season and both looked to continue their success this past Wednesday as they hosted Brentwood, Trinity Christian, Briarwood, John Hancock and Twiggs Academy.

Multi-county pursuit ends with arrest in Eatonton

A Greensboro woman was arrested on a laundry list of charges in Eatonton on March 12, following a police chase involving several law enforcement agencies at speeds approaching 100 mph.
