Road closure, power outages follow crash on bridge

The bridge over Lake Oconee on Old Phoenix Road was completely closed for a brief time Saturday night and then again on Monday morning. In both instances, surrounding residences were without electricity because a pickup truck had crashed into a utility pole, Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said.

Late last month, during the pre-show sound check for The Doo Wop Project at The Plaza, a group of local students ranging from high school freshmen to college-aged – each interested in pursuing a career in the arts – had the unique opportunity of speaking one-on-one with the show’s stars.
