Head-on collision claims five lives Tuesday morning

Five people were killed instantly in a head-on collision Tuesday morning, including an infant and a toddler. Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills identified the victims as Mayla Dostie, 44; Hailey Brook Hayes, 22; Zaleigh Adaya Brooks, 23; Bentley Barlow, 3; and Tucker Hudspeth, eight months old.

Plaza Arts Center teaches kids ideas for creativity

The Plaza Arts Center’s annual Art Camp for Kids took place July 17-21, in Eatonton. “Children at this camp are doing different types of art and get exposed to different art media,” Plaza Arts Center Executive Director Susan Usry said. “There are a lot of activities, and the children are very good.

Eatonton businesses celebrate simultaneous grand openings

The parking lot was full July 14, alongside Scott Road in Eatonton near Lake Oconee as two stores – The Boat Shop and Ride – joined forces in presenting the Boats, Bikes and Beer Block Party to celebrate joint grand openings.

Time is running out for local businesses and individuals to donate to Putnam General Hospital (PGH) through this year’s Georgia HEART (Helping Enhance Access to Rural Treatment) program that allows taxpayers to designate where some or all of their annual state tax obligation is spent.

BOE addresses budget, tax digest, public comments
