Dog left outside dies in heat; owner arrested

Last week’s high temperatures claimed the life of a pet dog and led to the owner’s arrest, according to authorities. Eatonton Police Department officer Dennis Tippens responded to a call on the 100 block of Custer Avenue regarding a dead dog.

Over the strong objection of one of its members, the Eatonton City Council on Monday voted 5-2 to amend the city zoning ordinance to allow bed-and-breakfasts in residential areas to serve food at in-house events.
