Short-term rentals ordinance taking shape

The Putnam County Board of Commissioners may not have made any final decisions on a short-term rental (STR) ordinance during a Monday morning work session, but enough general consensus emerged to direct the staff to draft a new version.

Second STR town hall meeting covers waterfront

The Putnam Board of Commissioners’ second town hall-type hearing to consider short-term rentals (STRs) on the county’s two large lakes drew a crowd Tuesday morning almost as large as the first a couple of weeks ago.

Short-term rentals contentious for Putnam commissioners

Last week’s first of two special hearings on short-term rentals (STRs) at Putnam County’s two large lakes saw nearly 40 people take three-minute turns at the microphone giving an earful to the Putnam County Board of Commissioners. Some voiced specific complaints.

One action at the Putnam County Board of Commissioners’ first meeting of the new year shuffled $1.8 million from one internal account to another – following 17 years, an economic recession, the closing of Georgia Power’s Plant Branch, a lawsuit, and a state attorney general’s opinion.
