Dogs, Lady Dogs earn All-Region honors

Following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, several players on Morgan County’s basketball teams earned All-Region honors.The program’s two coaches — Cody Anderson (boys) and Milfred Franklin (girls) — were also recognized with a postseason award. They were each named Region Coach of the Year.

Lady Dogs come up short in Final Four

AMERICUS – Murray County defeated Morgan County 71-66 in the Class AA semifinal on Feb. 28 at Georgia Southwestern University’s Storm Dome, securing a place in the state title game in Macon this week.

Experience helps Morgan girls advance to Final Four

After reaching the Elite Eight for the second consecutive year, the No. 5 seed Morgan County girls' basketball team took another step forward on Tuesday, defeating No. 20 Carver (Columbus) at home to advance.The Lady Dogs toppled the Lady Tigers 58-33 to advance to the Class 2A Final Four.

Lady Dogs return to Elite Eight, prepare for Carver

For the second year in a row, the Morgan County girls basketball team has advanced to the Elite Eight round of the state playoffs.Two weeks ago, the Lady Dogs won the Region 4-2A championship and entered the postseason as the No. 5 overall seed out of a 32-team bracket.

Lady ‘Dogs capture region title, ready for playoffs

The Morgan County girls basketball team (18-9) defeated Callaway on Feb. 15 to win the Region 4-AA title.The Lady Dogs conquered the Lady Cavs 62-51 on their home floor to secure the region championship.

'Dogs crowned region champs with win over Seminoles

Morgan County boys basketball captured the Region 4-AA title after defeating Westside (Macon) on Feb. 15.The Dogs defeated the Seminoles 54-40 at home in the championship game, earning the title of region champions.

Lady Dogs focus on the small details

While the Morgan County Lady Dogs are first in the Region 4-AA standings, head coach Milfred Franklin wants his team to keep focusing on the important details as the regular season comes to a close this week.

Lady Dogs learn lessons from tough non-region schedule

Despite a losing record entering this week, the Morgan County girls basketball team remains a top-10 team in Class 2A.The Lady Dogs are ranked No. 8 in the SandySpiel.com Class 2A rankings because of their tough schedule.

Young nets 1,000th point in win

Morgan County senior Jaden Young reached the 1,000-point mark in a win over rival Greene County on Dec. 6. Young reached the milestone in the first quarter of the Lady Dogs’ dominant 57-31 road win over the Lady Tigers.Young said the moment felt surreal, which came on a layup from a fast break.

Young finds college home at Emmanuel

It is official.Morgan County girls’ basketball senior Jaden Young has signed with Emmanuel College to continue her hoops career. She signed with the Lady Lions last week during a ceremony at the school.Young considered several schools before deciding on Emmanuel College, located in Franklin Springs.
