LOA crowns Homecoming King and Queen

Lake Oconee Academy hosted its third annual Homecoming football game this past Friday night. During halftime of the Titans’ game against Augusta Prep, the school named its Homecoming king and queen. D’Karrah Terrell was named Queen while Thomas Miller was crowned King.

Parent alleges absence of transparency by LOA board

Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) parent Todd Ciavola asked to be put on the agenda during public comments at last week’s Greene County Board of Education (BOE) meeting. Ciavola is a 22-year resident of the area with two children who recently graduated and another who is currently a sophomore.

Lake Oconee Academy awarded Directors’ Cups

Last week, Lake Oconee Academy was awarded the Female Directors Cup, and the overall Directors Cup was presented by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA). Titans’ athletic director Chris Ingle told the Lake Oconee News that it’s a great honor to be recognized for this award.

LOA charter renewal faces 66 hurdles

At a special public meeting with parents Tuesday night, the Lake Oconee Academy Board of Governors gave the Greene County Board of Education an extension on the deadline for the BOE to decide if LOA should be granted a charter renewal.

Black qualifies for 74th U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship

After being named the GHSA Class A Division II Golfer of the Year, Lake Oconee Academy’s Kallyn Black has continued to improve her golf game by participating in tournaments over the summer. In one of her most recent events, the Lady Titans’ state low-medalist qualified for the 74th U.S.

LOA to start Alternative Education Program

Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) is developing an Alternative/ Non-Traditional Education Program (AEP) to handle students who are disruptive in class, miss too many days of school, or are not accumulating enough credits for graduation.
