‘Cannonball’ Adderley coming to Festival Hall

Festival Hall in Greensboro will play host on Feb. 23, to “Cannonball” Adderley, Preaching the Gospel of Jazz, as the opening act of its 2nd annual Jazz Legacy Project. Known as 'Country Preacher,' this Florida school teacher turned into a jazz icon after giving New York City a try.

LOABA announces The Big Event coming in March

Lake Oconee Area Builders Association (LOABA) invites everyone to save the date for The Big Event. This free one-day festival takes place on Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lake Oconee Village at 1000 Vista Drive in Greensboro.

Ingles employee injured while fleeing police

According to Greensboro Police Chief Rodricus Monford, an Ingles employee was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on Cunningham Road after leading police officers on a five-mile chase following an incident at the grocery store.

BASKETBALL: Titans’ middle school team wins league championship

When looking at the school’s basketball program as a whole, Lake Oconee Academy has seen great development at every level since starting in 2016. Most importantly, the Titans’ coaching staff has started to play a role in player development at the middle school level.

A Madison man who has been arrested in Greene County multiple times was arrested again on New Year’s Eve after deputies found him on the property of the Exxon station on East Broad Street, a business he had been banned from by police in the past.

Dyar elected to Piedmont SWCD board

Watkinsville’s Andy Dyar was elected on Nov. 8, to represent Greene County in the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, Dyar will serve the Conservation District for a four-year term.

Festival Hall fundraiser features young pianist

Festival Hall – Greensboro’s event facility and home to several productions, special events and more – was recently the featured venue for a successful fundraiser. The fundraiser raised close to $4,000 toward a future piano purchase, according to Executive Director Nicole Chillemi.
