Fire forces family from Reynolds home

A second house fire at a Reynolds Lake Oconee home valued at $1.4 million caused heavy damage and displaced a family of seven last week.The fire call came in at 10:34 a.m. Jan. 1, and elements of Greene County Fire Rescue began arriving at 10:43 a.m.

Two firefighters hurt in accident

Greene County Fire Rescue is hoping that 2025 turns out to be a better year than the last.The GCFR family lost beloved Battalion Chief Chris Eddy last year, and just before the calendar turned to 2025, two firefighters were injured in an accident.

Trapped truck driver extricated by GC Fire Rescue

Greene County first responders dealt with a bizarre entrapment situation on Dec. 22 when a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound near milepost 141 ran off the road and into the wood line.

Firefighters, arborists hold joint training
