Cannonball Adderley opens 2023 Jazz Legacy Project

Festival Hall in Greensboro is presenting Cannonball Adderley, Preaching the Gospel of Jazz on Feb. 23, to open its 2023 Jazz Legacy Project. Known as the 'Country Preacher,' Adderley, a former Florida school teacher, turned into a jazz icon after he gave New York City a try.

Festival Hall in Greensboro will play host on Feb. 23, to “Cannonball” Adderley, Preaching the Gospel of Jazz, as the opening act of its 2nd annual Jazz Legacy Project. Known as 'Country Preacher,' this Florida school teacher turned into a jazz icon after giving New York City a try.

Festival Hall fundraiser features young pianist

Festival Hall – Greensboro’s event facility and home to several productions, special events and more – was recently the featured venue for a successful fundraiser. The fundraiser raised close to $4,000 toward a future piano purchase, according to Executive Director Nicole Chillemi.

Jazz Legacy Project: Billy Strayhorn coming to Festival Hall

Festival Hall, Greensboro’s premier arts venue and cultural center, will present its final show of the 2022 Jazz Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, with The Jazz Legacy Project: Billy Strayhorn, Take the A Train.

Festival Hall continues to attract visitors to Greensboro

Festival Hall, Greensboro’s only visual arts and performing venue, sits proudly across from city hall, opposite the Greene County courthouse on Main Street. It is fitting for a structure that embodies Americana at its best in a small southern town.

Another great must-see event was held June 16 at Festival Hall in Greensboro for the second in the series of The Jazz Legacy Project, featuring musicians Justin Varnes, drummer and narrator; Louis Heriveaux, pianist and keyboardist; Kevin Smith, bassist; and John Sandfort on saxophone.
