Morgan’s Burke signs with Chattahoochee Valley

Morgan County girls basketball senior Cydney Burke has sealed her plans to play the sport at the college level.The standout guard signed her letter of intent in a brief ceremony on March 27 and will continue her athletic and academic career at Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Alabama.

Burke scores 1,000th career point for Lady Dogs

Morgan County guard Cydney Burke has been a vital piece of the Lady Dogs’ success this season.The senior, now in her fourth year on the varsity roster, reached a major milestone by scoring her 1,000th career point during a 65–17 road win over Rutland on Jan. 13.

Morgan girls looking to replace production in 2025

The 2025-26 season for the Morgan County girls basketball team is underway.The Lady Dogs were ranked No. 7 in Class AA in SandysSpiel. com’s preseason rankings.

Lady Dogs return to Elite Eight, prepare for Carver

For the second year in a row, the Morgan County girls basketball team has advanced to the Elite Eight round of the state playoffs.Two weeks ago, the Lady Dogs won the Region 4-2A championship and entered the postseason as the No. 5 overall seed out of a 32-team bracket.

Basketball ‘Dogs, Lady Dogs earn All-Region honors

Morgan County’s basketball teams recently announced that six players made the All-Region 4-AAA list in 2024. The ‘Dogs and Lady Dogs had three players each make either the All-Region First or Second teams.

Lady Dogs starting to find a rhythm

Morgan County Lady Dogs’ coach Milfred Franklin feels his team is hitting its stride at the right time. Franklin’s squad is 10-9 overall and 3-1 in region competition following Tuesday’s loss to Cross Creek. The No. 7 Lady Razorbacks (12-4, 3-0) survived a scare by defeating Morgan County, 41-38.
