Looking a lot younger and smaller than they appeared on Dec. 2 last year in a tough 16-10 loss in the state championship game, members of the 2023 Gatewood football team assembled one last time on Jan. 10 for their wrap-up awards banquet.

Tigers top Trinity Prep, LOA

After narrowly defeating Trinity Prep 51-50 in Loganville this past Friday, Greene County topped Lake Oconee Academy easily, beating the Titans 59-44 in a rivalry game the following day. After those two victories last week, the Tigers improved to 10-4 overall and 5-0 in region play.

Lady Tigers stun Titans in thriller

Greene County got its first win over Lake Oconee Academy since the 2017-18 season last Saturday. The Lady Tigers stunned the Lady Titans, defeating them 45-42 in a low-scoring thriller. Greene County head coach Steven Hopper knew the girls could pull off the win and was happy after the game.

‘Dogs benefiting from a pair of transfers

Morgan County head coach Cody Anderson has seen a significant difference this season in his program after adding senior transfers Ryan Moore and Jamauri Evans to the roster this past summer. Moore and Evans provide depth to a young team with a lot of underclassmen.

Gatewood boys on a roll in new year

Lady Dogs place second at Wimbley Classic

Titans compete in holiday tournament

Lake Oconee Academy traveled to Tennessee last week to play in a holiday tournament. The Titans played in the Great Smoky Mountain Classic in Gatlinburg, TN., from Dec. 27-Dec. 29. They lost to Grace Christian Academy (Tenn.) 65-45 before defeating Jackson Clay (Ky.

Dogs look to turn corner after tourney

Morgan County basketball enters the new year looking to turn a corner after going 2-1 at the Oscar Wimbley Classic, held at Lamar County High School last week. The ‘Dogs enter this week at 8-6. Locust Grove defeated Morgan County 57-51 on Dec. 28 behind a strong effort from a few key players.
