Morgan County's Draco Frazzitta sets eyes on future, commits to Navy

Morgan County senior football player Draco Frazzitta recently announced where he will play at the next level.Frazzitta, a 6-foot-6, 240-pound tight end and outside linebacker for the Bulldogs, announced on Twitter he will attend the United States Naval Academy.

Greene County to face tough test in scrimmage

Greene County will play a preseason scrimmage against Northeast (Macon) on Friday night before its season opener next week. The Tigers will face a talented Raiders squad that went 8-3 overall last year in Class A Division I.

Morgan County to scrimmage Bears before season

Morgan County’s football team will hit the gridiron this Thursday for a preseason scrimmage at Cherokee Bluff. The Bulldogs will travel to Flowery Branch to face the Bears, who they’ve scrimmaged against the last two years.

Lake Oconee Academy shows promise in preseason scrimmage

Lake Oconee Academy played one of two scheduled preseason scrimmages last Friday and easily defeated Cherokee Christian 28-10 at Tucker Field in Greensboro.

Gatewood gears up for 2024 season

The Gatewood Gators will travel to Athens Christian this Friday for a preseason scrimmage. Head coach Jeff Ratliff hopes to iron out any last-minute kinks before the regular season starts one week later at Flint River Academy in Woodbury.

Lady Gators softball season underway

Despite having their 2023 season come to an end at the hands of rival Piedmont Academy, Gatewood’s Lady Gators softball team went into the offseason with plenty of hope for the future.

King of Skeet: Gatewood alum brings home fourth gold medal

Gatewood alum Vincent Hancock recently won his fourth Olympic gold medal in men’s skeet shooting. The 35-year-old Army veteran edged out fellow American and protégé Conner Prince to claim the top spot at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Lake Oconee Academy wins second-straight GADA Directors Cup

Lake Oconee Academy athletics recently won its second-consecutive Directors Cup, presented by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association. The school also won another Female Directors Cup.
