Titans end season on positive note

Despite not making the state playoffs for a second consecutive year, the Lake Oconee Academy baseball team (10-14, 7-11) ended its 2022 season on a positive note. The Titans went unbeaten last week, defeating both Lincoln County (12-11) last Monday and Putnam County (8-6) on Thursday.

Lady Dogs fall to Cherokee Bluff in Elite Eight

Franklin named MCHS girls’ basketball coach

Morgan County Middle School boys’ basketball head coach Milfred Franklin has received a promotion. He was recently named the new MCHS girls’ basketball head coach after Timothy Roop stepped down to take on an administrative role at the middle school.

Titans surge past Rebels in Sweet 16

The Lake Oconee Academy Titans’ soccer team defeated the Atkinson County Rebels last Tuesday in the second round of the Class A-Public state playoffs. The 2-1 victory marks the third season in a row the Titans have made it this far in the tournament.

Bright future for MCHS soccer after first-round playoff exit

The Morgan County Bulldogs boys’ soccer team fell to Coahulla Creek 1-0 in the first round of the playoffs last week to end its 2022 season. The team finished the season 10-5-1, while going 7-1 in region play to win the school’s second region championship in a row.

After final wild lap, calm-running Ross gets the ‘Dega’ W

One lap. That’s all it took for Ross Chastain to drop a watermelon and raise a trophy in celebration. The 29-year old Floridian led only the last – typically frantic – lap in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday to take his second career Cup Series victory.
