FOOTBALL: Cooper, Dorsey lead ‘Dogs past ‘Canes

Morgan County (3-0) tailbacks Jacere Cooper and Jay Dorsey ran wild against Jasper County (1-2) on Friday night in a 65-7 rout of the Hurricanes at Bill Corry Stadium. Both Cooper and Dorsey have been a big part of Morgan County’s offensive success so far.

FOOTBALL: Tigers prepare for Warriors after win over Bulldogs

It was a rainy Friday night under the lights of Tiger Stadium, and the Greene County Tigers (2-1) persevered through three turnovers in the red zone to beat the Hancock Central Bulldogs (1-2) by a score of 27-18.

FOOTBALL: Titans stomp Walker for first win

After two tough losses to open up the season, Lake Oconee Academy (1-2) finally got one in the win column against Walker High School (1-2) on Friday night at Tucker Field. The Titans defeated the Wolverines 36-18 for head coach Patrick Stewart’s first program win.

SOFTBALL: Lanford powers Lady Dogs past Prince Avenue

In a game with a lot of back-and-forth drama, Ryan Henderson’s extra-inning theatrics powered Morgan County 7-6 past Prince Avenue Christian last Thursday. The game between the Bulldogs and the home Wolverines headed to the 10th inning with a 4-4 tie.

McCurley: Let’s talk about Stetson Bennett

Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is living the dream. I envy him because he accomplished something that hadn’t occurred in a long time, which was helping bring a national title back to Athens. It was a magical season. I grew up with the same dream, but obviously, I am here writing about him.

Bulldogs poach Oregon in duck hunt

ATLANTA – Duck hunting in the state of Georgia started early this year. The No. 3 Bulldogs trounced No. 11 Oregon 49-3 on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Georgia dominated in all facets of the game, but especially on offense and defense.

FOOTBALL: Bulldogs handle Tigers in rivalry game

The Morgan County football team hosted the Greene County Tigers at Bill Corry Stadium last Friday for their second game of the regular season. The Bulldogs defeated the Tigers 43-22, and head coach Clint Jenkins believed his team made some improvements from Week 1 to Week 2.
