Charles Allen Nichols

Charles Allen Nichols of Greensboro, GA, died Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, GA, at 72.

A native of Greene County, GA, he was born in Greensboro on March 27, 1952, to the late Charles Henry Nichols and Edna Ruth Sidwell Nichols. He grew up in Greensboro and graduated from Greene County High School in 1971, where he played football and was in FFA and the 4-H Club.

 In 1973, he received a degree in Drafting from Athens Technical School. He then worked as a surveyor for Landmark Engineering. 

After that, he became a welder and made it a lifelong profession as the owner of Nichols Welding, where he repaired heavy equipment and did metal fabrication. He was also musically inclined to play the piano and was an original member of The Anchored Five Gospel Group. Allen was a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where, as a teenager, he served as a junior deacon.

He loved fishing, hunting, and auction sales.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his son Michael Nichols. Survivors include his son, Adam Seth Nichols (Brandy) of Buckhead, GA; brothers, Kevin Nichols (Wilma) of Greensboro, GA, and Stuart Nichols (Susan) of Union Point, GA; grandchildren, Samantha and Mazelle Nichols of Buckhead, GA; and special friend, Tammy Cawthon of Woodville, GA; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside Services were held Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 2721 Macedonia Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669, with Rev. Dennis Garner officiating.

 The family received friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church. David Cheeley, Bill Thomas, Ray Duvall, Joey Fleming, Danny Edmonds, Barry Churchwell, Dustin Churchwell, Charlie Sanders, Bobby Morris, Donnie Moore and Johnny Patton were serving as pallbearers.
