Former student-athlete tragically dies

According to a report from the Appling County Sheriff’s Department, former Morgan County standout athlete Quintavious Williams passed away April 5 after allegedly being struck by a tree and was found unresponsive.

Williams was 24 years old, and according to an obituary on Legacy.com, he passed away in Baxley, Georgia.

The Morgan County Citizen reported that the cause of death “has not been released.” An officer with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department indicated that the death is currently under investigation and could not yet provide the full incident report.

Williams, who graduated in 2018, excelled in basketball and football at Morgan County. Williams continued his career on the gridiron in Statesboro at Georgia Southern University, where he played on the defensive line.

The Georgia Southern football team released a photo and statement about the loss of Williams: “Forever an Eagle.”

The Morgan County basketball team also issued a statement about the tragic death of its former player.

“Dog Nation, please join us in praying for the family and loved ones of former Dog, Quin Williams,” the statement read. “He will be greatly missed. May God’s peace comfort all those hurting from this tragic death.”

According to his obituary, services for Williams will be announced later. However, they will be handled by Bernard’s Family Funeral Care at The Madison Chapel, located at 1086 Ward Rd. in Madison.
