The Lake Oconee Academy Board of Governors will soon have two new members.
During its Feb. 13 meeting, the board unanimously approved amending its bylaws to add two nonvoting members — one from the Lake Oconee Academy Foundation (LOAF) and the other from the community with knowledge in building and development to help with upcoming projects.
“We’re really looking for skillsets that will help us,” board member Kelly Brolly said about the addition.
The board unanimously approved adding Ansley Vinson as the LOAF representative. Vinson currently serves as chairman of the foundation board.
The board also discussed forming a two-person committee to help LOA Executive Director Dr. Brad Bowling with the research needed to design renderings for the new middle school.
Bowling said the need to create plans is critical, with more than 30 percent of LOA’s students learning in modular buildings.
The committee would be involved in designing the new facility to meet students' needs and developing long-term maintenance plans for all current facilities.
The new board member with a background in development would be on the committee.
