The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has obtained warrants for a Madison woman who allegedly stole two trucks from the Builders First Choice lumber yard and crashed them both Aug. 1.
Jenee Johnson, of Madison, faces charges on two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of criminal damage to property.
According to the GCSO, deputies became involved when they were notified that someone had stolen a truck from the lumber yard at 1028 Richland Connector.
Johnson allegedly stole a truck and crashed it into the fence near the entrance to the lumber yard before driving it into a ditch just outside the gate.
According to the GCSO, the thief allegedly “went back and took another truck and left the property through the hole created while driving the first truck through the fence. The individual then traveled on Lake Oconee Parkway and wrecked the second vehicle in the ditch.”
The GCSO was able to obtain video evidence from the in-car camera system of both vehicles involved, which showed what appeared to be a black female driver operating each vehicle when the accidents occurred.
During the investigation, law enforcement learned of an incident that occurred at Exchange Bank on Lake Oconee Parkway, a few miles south of the lumber yard. An ATM was damaged during the accident. Evidence suggested that the damage was possibly caused by the same suspect who wrecked the trucks.
Evidence obtained from the Exchange Bank incident also led to the suspect’s vehicle being located at the Imperial Inn in Madison.
Investigators were then able to positively identify the driver of the vehicle during the Exchange Bank and Builders First Choice incidents as Jenee Lashard Johnson of Madison.
If anyone has any information concerning Ms. Johnson's whereabouts, please contact Investigator Sgt. Don Smith with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
Greene County Sheriff Donnie Harrison thanked investigators from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Madison Police Department for their assistance with this incident.
