Robert Harrison Belew, Jr., age 78, of Greensboro, GA, died at his residence on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Born on February 27, 1946, in Florence, AL, he was one of two sons of the late Robert Harrison Belew, Sr. and Marjorie Bretherick Belew.
After graduating from high school, he received an associate degree from Southern Tech in Atlanta, GA. He entered the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He proudly served his country for two years and received an honorable discharge as an Army specialist E4. Bobby married the former Sharon Medlock on June 12, 2002.
Bobby had a successful career with Great Dane Trailers as the Plant Engineer for thirty-five years, retiring on February 1, 2008. In 2016, he made his permanent home in Greensboro, GA. Bobby enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, being outdoors, and NASCAR racing. He was a member of the Lake Oconee Elks Lodge.
In addition to his wife of twenty-one years, Sharon Belew of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by two children, Greg Belew (Holly) of Waverly, GA and Jessica Belew Raley (Sam) of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, Donnie Belew (Karen) of Birmingham, AL; granddaughter, Hannah Belew; and a number of nieces, nephews and many friends. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Bambi and Bunni.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Christopher Leggett.
A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 9:00 am at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, Georgia 30642, with Father Adam Blatt officiating, followed by a reception in the church’s Sacred Heart Social Hall.
