‘Evening With Art’ raises funds for Boys & Girls Club

For the third year in a row, the “Evening With Art” event brought in more than 300 purchased tickets and was a winning success for Greensboro’s Boys and Girls Club. The event featured leading artists throughout the South, and the art was available for purchase at Bend The Trend, an event venue on Linger Longer Road.

The Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club is the largest nonprofit organization in the city of Greensboro and serves 280 children through its unique sponsored programs, working to make great futures a reality for the youth. The Boys and Girls Club works nationally to empower its members with skill sets designed to excel in school, provide safe surroundings for afterschool activities, and empower members with self-confidence to succeed.

Started in 1860, clubs throughout the United States provide a supportive foundation for members. Ninety- seven percent of club teens expect to graduate from high school, and 88 percent expect to complete some post-secondary education. By reaching their full potential, teens also develop good character skills and become productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

Chuck Rowland, the local club’s board chairman, believes every child deserves a chance at succeeding.

“Every member has what it takes,” said Rowland. “The Boys and Girls Club of America supports all our local youth of every ethnicity, ability, socio-economic status, and religion. Our volunteers spend an incredible amount of time with these children through their efforts to help build good behavior and personal expectations. I am so grateful to this community here that has given to the club.”

According to Rowland, community members have shared so graciously to give youth a better chance of acquiring sufficient means. It is expected that the event helped raise more than $70,000.

The event depended on many donated sponsors, including Greensboro Tire, Reynolds Properties, Refine, and Lake Community Medical Group.
