The Lake Oconee Academy Titans will host the Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers this Friday at 7:30 p.m. for the team’s seventh game of the season.
• Series Record: Augusta Prep leads the all-time series over LOA, 1-0.
• Last Meeting: Augusta Prep Day defeated Lake Oconee Academy 55-14 in 2021.
After two consecutive road games, head coach Patrick Stewart’s squad returns to Titan Stadium with revenge on its mind.
In the program’s first year, the team lost 55-14 to the Cavaliers. This time around, the Titans have the better record coming into the contest, but Stewart acknowledged they will still need to go out and compete if they want to come out on top.
“Augusta Prep’s record doesn’t show it, but when you turn on the film, they are a really well-coached team,” Stewart said. “They do a lot of good things offensively and defensively. I am very excited to see our guys go out and compete against them this Friday.”
With the way the Titans’ defense has played recently, they should find no issues in stopping a lackluster Cavalier offense.
Augusta Prep Day is currently averaging less than a touchdown per game and is currently on a three-game losing streak where it has been outscored 123-19.
On top of that, Lake Oconee Academy’s defense has been much stingier at home this season. The Titans are allowing over twice as many points to opponents on the road than they are at home through seven games this year.
Stewart’s team still hasn’t gotten a week to rest since the season began back in August, but he believes his players will still come into this game excited and ready to play.
After the contest against Augusta Prep Day, Lake Oconee Academy will have one more game before getting back-to-back bye weeks prior to the team’s final game against Piedmont Academy – the Cavaliers’ only win of the season.
If they continue to play to their level, Stewart believes his team can finish the year out strong with success against a team they lost to last season.
“We will have a much-needed fall break the first off week, and then the second week we will start preparation for Piedmont,” Stewart said. “Playing Piedmont in itself is the motivation for our guys. They still feel that last loss from last year against them and are ready to flip the script on them.”
