Kids from Greene County visited their neighbors in Morgan County at Bill Corry Stadium for a Special Olympics event held April 18.
At the conclusion of the athletic events – which included the 50-yard dash, 100-yard dash, softball throw and tennis ball throw, the festivities moved to the area in front of Morgan County High School where bouncy houses and other facilities were set up.
According to Noelle Brownlee, the special education teacher who oversaw the planning of the event, 86 Special Olympians for Morgan and Greene County schools participated.
Seventy-five volunteers from Morgan County High School came out to support the Special Olympians, while Bo’s Wrecker Service and Pro Foam provided the T-shirts for the kids, volunteers, and teachers involved.
The Chop House restaurant donated water bottles for the outdoor event – the weather was perfect, by the way – and Chase Stephens State Farm provided 225 lunches for everyone involved.
Morgan County Special Olympics would like to thank the community for coming and supporting our Special Olympians. It was a beautiful day and it was filled with fun!
