Madison man arrested again in Greene County

GREENE COUNTY

A Madison man who has been arrested in Greene County multiple times was arrested again on New Year’s Eve after deputies found him on the property of the Exxon station on East Broad Street, a business he had been banned from by police in the past.

Will Ingram, 56, of 4121 Riverside Drive, is being charged with criminal trespass, two counts of obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, public drunkenness, and simple battery on a peace officer. According to reports, Sgt.

Joshua Wilson was on patrol in the area when he saw someone attempting to flag him down as if they were in distress. Wilson spoke with a female and a male who stated that they were trying to get away from a male standing on the side of the Exxon store.

He had been bothering them and asking strange questions.

Wilson then turned and observed a male, who was identified as Will Ingram Sr. walking in the parking lot of the Exxon.

According to Wilson’s account, he knew from past encounters that Ingram was trespassed from the store and was not supposed to be on the property as he frequently becomes violent and harasses staff and customers.

Wilson called Ingram to speak with him and while talking to him he noted that Ingram was heavily intoxicated and smelled strongly of alcohol.

Wilson then arrested Ingram for criminal trespass and public intoxication, but as he took him to the patrol car, Ingram became irate and aggressive, yelling obscenities and curses at the deputy. Another deputy arrived and began assisting Wilson.

As deputies attempted to get Ingram into the patrol car, he refused and went limp, according to the report, forcing the deputies to physically place Ingram in the vehicle, since he would not follow verbal commands.

Once the deputies managed to get Ingram in the vehicle, he was transported to the Greene County jail.

Once at the jail, Ingram continued to verbally harass and curse at jail staff and deputies. In the booking area, Ingram continued to not follow commands and comply as instructed. As Wilson was standing behind Ingram and trying to keep him from striking out or hitting jail staff, Ingram spit towards Wilson and the spit struck Wilson in the face.

Ingram was ultimately taken to a holding cell without further incident.
