Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club celebrates back-to-school bash, community cookout

GREENE COUNTY

The Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club of North Central Georgia recently celebrated its annual Back-to-School Bash and Community Cookout, bringing together families, community leaders, volunteers and partners for a day of fellowship and fun as local youth prepared to begin a new school year.

The event welcomed more than 150 club members and youth from throughout the community and was made possible through the support of local businesses, organizations and volunteers.

The club extended its appreciation to the Greensboro Police Department, Family Connection, BankSouth, the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors and everyone who contributed time and resources to the event.

One of the highlights was a special meet-and-greet with Greene County High School Principal Kerry Flores. Parents had an opportunity to meet Flores, ask questions and begin building a positive relationship ahead of the first day of school.

The Greensboro Police Department once again showed its support for local youth by preparing a meal featuring bacon hamburgers, hot dogs and all the favorite condiments. Families enjoyed the meal together while children participated in activities and received school supplies.

Family Connection and Coordinator Chasen Crawford provided school supplies to help ensure students were prepared for the new school year. The organization’s continued partnership with the club reflects a shared commitment to supporting local children and families.

The club also recognized Targie Folds for introducing a new idea that added value to this year’s event. Her planning helped strengthen community engagement and contributed to the success of the celebration.

BankSouth served as one of the event’s major supporters, continuing its investment in youth development and education throughout Greene County. Destiny McClendon represented BankSouth at the event.

The club also recognized its Board of Directors for their leadership and hands-on support, including Chair Annette O’Banion, Chuck Rowland, Jennifer Phillips, Mike O’Neal and Jere Brady.

Each board member helped welcome families, serve the community and ensure the event provided a fun and safe environment for local youth.

“This event represents what our community is all about,” said Club Director Stacy McClendon. “When businesses, community organizations, law enforcement, educators, board members, volunteers, and families come together with one common purpose to support our youth, amazing things happen.

“We are incredibly thankful to everyone who invested their time, resources, and love into making this year’s Back-to-School Bash such a tremendous success. Together, we are helping build brighter futures for every child we serve.”

Avery, a member of the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club, said she was grateful the club hosts events such as the cookout and Back-to-School Bash.

As another school year begins, the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club remains committed to providing a safe and positive environment where young people can learn, grow and reach their full potential through after-school programming, academic support, leadership development, healthy lifestyles and character-building opportunities.

The club extends its appreciation to every sponsor, volunteer, parent and community partner whose generosity continues to support its mission of inspiring and enabling young people to become productive, responsible and caring members of the community.
