A Union Point woman is facing charges of aggravated assault after allegedly intentionally hitting a woman with her car on July 31.
Carshuna Yvette Smith, 28, also faces charges of criminal trespass in the wake of the incident.
According to reports obtained from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy William Yourchak was dispatched to an MLK Jr. Drive address in reference to a pedestrian/ vehicle and met with a complainant who said that Smith came to the address, knocked on the door, and made a derogatory comment about another woman who was inside the residence.
According to the complainant, Smith’s main focus was to hit his vehicle with her vehicle.
According to reports, the deputy was unable to get a statement from the woman who was inside the residence. Investigator Scott Smith drove out to get a statement from her.
The victim told Smith that the complainant’s “baby mama” came to her house and got into an argument with him. Smith then left the scene and the victim went outside with the complainant. The victim said Carshuna Smith returned while they were standing beside his car and drove straight at them. She said she tried to run but got hit on her right side, flew into the air and hit the ground. The force of the collision caused her glasses to fall off and knocked her out of her shoes.
Photos of her injuries were taken.
Yourchak investigated the scene and found pronounced tire marks in the yard, indicating that the vehicle was traveling southwest on Syrup Mill Road at a high rate of speed.
Yourchak’s investigation led him to conclude that Smith’s vehicle hit the complainant’s vehicle on the driver’s side rear quarter panel and also the victim. Yourchak said the victim’s glasses were 10 feet from area of impact, and the shoes were 20 feet from the glasses.
Sgt. Hudson Bell contacted Smith via telephone, but she said she hadn’t done anything and hung up on the deputy.
Later, Bell contacted Smith again, and she agreed to turn herself in.
She told Bell that she had demanded that the complainant leave the victim’s residence, but when she realized he wasn’t leaving, she went back. She said she saw the complainant sitting in the car and headed toward him. She also said he tried to push the victim out of the way and caused Smith to hit her inadvertently while trying to get to the complainant.
