A young Greensboro woman was killed in an automobile accident Sunday, Aug. 7, on Georgia Highway 12 near Brickhouse Road.
According to a report obtained from the Georgia State Patrol, Kailynne Derricot, 24, was traveling eastbound on Georgia Highway 12 in a 2003 Honda Accord a little after midnight when the accident happened.
The GSP analysis concluded that “while negotiating a left curve in the roadway, the driver lost control. The vehicle then traveled onto the south shoulder of the roadway where the rear driver’s side struck a tree. The vehicle rotated counterclockwise and came to an uncontrolled rest on its driver’s side facing east.
According to the report, seatbelts were in use and the airbag did deploy.
Trooper Zach Goodman investigated the crash.
Friends and family are mourning Derricot’s passing with some expressing their grief in social media posts.
“She had her whole life in front of her,” said Nessa Denise in a Facebook post dated Aug. 7. “Her daughter, mom, siblings, loved ones and friends will never get to hear her say ‘I love you’ again.'
