MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Anfernee Diego Waller, 27, of Madison was arrested June 22 and charged with speeding (71 mph on Old Buckhead Road near Highway 441) and driving with a suspended license.

A Morgan County deputy met with a complainant June 23 in reference to a stalking incident that had been reported earlier in day at the TA Travel Center.

Michael McGahee, 32, of Augusta was arrested June 23 and charged with speeding, driving while license suspended, aggressive driving, reckless driving, DUI (marijuana), operating a vehicle in the emergency lane, failure to maintain lane, felony attempting to elude a police officer, giving a false name and date of birth to a police officer, possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce), theft by receiving stolen property, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of Schedule II drugs with intent to distribute.

Brandon Coby Thurmond, 19, of Newborn was arrested June 23 and charged with making a false report of a crime. According to the report, Thurmond initially told deputies he had been attacked but later admitted he had inflicted his injuries upon himself.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Riverbanks Road address in reference to theft and forgery complaints. The complainant said someone had tried to cash a check at the Delta Community Credit Union originally made out to Dish Network for $103.35 that may have been stolen from his mailbox with the amount changed to $994. The bank did not cash the check and the subject fled the scene.

Barry Thomas Phelps, 49, of Greensboro was arrested June 27 and on unreported charges stemming from a traffic stop.

Willie Ray Simmons, 50, of Madison was arrested June 26 and charged with DUI and open container.

Loretta Eliza Jeff, 58, listed as homeless, was arrested June 25 and charged with battery under the family violence statute.

A Morgan County deputy responded to Station 9 to speak with someone who wanted to talk to an officer. The complainant stated that she had been bitten by a dog at Fairplay Road address while trying to deliver groceries there. The owner of the dogs said they had never bitten anyone before and apologized. The incident was turned over to animal control.

Dannishia Lashawn Mitchell, 32, of Atlanta was arrested June 25 and charged with possession of Schedule I drugs with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to an Atlanta Highway address June 26 in reference to a theft. The complainant said nearly $8,000 had been stolen from cash machines at Rutledge Crossing.

Angel David Ramirez-Cruz was arrested June 26 and charged with failure to maintain lane, driving without a valid license. He also had an arrest warrant out of Dekalb County for battery.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to the Lake Rutledge Equestrian Center in reference to the theft of a John Deere Gator on June 26.

Derrick Andrews, 27, of Greensboro was arrested June 27 and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding (76 mph in a 55-mph zone).

A Morgan County arrested Porshia Hunter at the Bostwick Food Store June 27 on a Clarke County arrest for making false statements.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to the Rutledge Liquor Store in reference to fraudulent checks Jun 28. The complainant said checks that turned out to be fraudulent and totaling $3,600 had been cashed there. The woman who wrote the checks told the complainant she could pay the money back in small increments but he told her that was unacceptable.

MADISON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Anthony Brian Caldwell, 30, of Ellenwood was arrested June 18 and charged with theft by shoplifting. According to the report, Caldwell attempted to steal $28 worth of household items while using the Walmart self-checkout.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to Affordable Cars at 1450 Eatonton Road June 20 in reference to a theft report. The complainant said catalytic converters had been cut and removed from four vehicles parked in a storage in the rear.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to Morgan Medical Center June 20 in reference to illegal dumping. A witness said a she saw a man dumping trash on Prior Circle, but the man claimed the city allowed him to dump trash there since they pick it up.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to a Micha Way address June 20 in reference to missing items. The complainant said his girlfriend took the items – which included two iPhones and two Wifi routers – and let air out of one of his truck tires. Later that same day, the complainant reported that the girlfriend returned to his home and stole a firearm.

Deborah Sasha Annan, 19, of Madison was arrested June 23 and charged with aggravated assault, battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and disorderly conduct.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to the Red Roof Inn due to power to rooms being shut off. The owner of the hotel said the power outages were due to mechanical issues that were being taken care of, but guests said it was done maliciously because they were behind on room payments. The officer relayed this to the owner and told her guests failing to pay for rooms could be charged with theft of services. Multiple residents at the hotel said an employee named Derek was charging them double for their rooms and pocketing half, hence payments were not be delivered or recognized by the hotel.

Demoris Lemon, 38, no address listed, was arrested June 22 and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Lemon was also issued criminal trespass warnings for three businesses on Eatonton Road, including Wendy’s, Citgo and the Red Roof in where he allegedly verbally abused customers.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to the Red Roof June 25 in reference to a theft report. The complainant said she loaned her vehicle to an individual, and when he returned it, she discovered that $400 was missing from her wallet that had been left in the car. The individual was not in the area to question about the theft.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to the Red Roof Inn June 26 in reference to an attempted auto break-in. The complainant said someone tried to enter her minivan. The officer observed pry marks on the front windows and sliding rear door windows.

Robert Jerome Thorn, 33, of Philadelphia was arrested June 25 and charged with theft, financial transaction card theft, driving while license suspended and giving a false name, address or date of birth to an officer.

Rahmir Shantray Delores Williams, 33, or Douglasville was arrested June 25 and charged with theft and financial card theft.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to a North Fifth Street address June 22 in reference to fraudulent activity. The complainant said she had filed a theft report with Wells Fargo regarding $740 fraudulently charged to her account and needed a report to have it cleared.

On June 21, a Madison police officer spoke with a local resident who alleged that her debit card information had been used to make two $150 charges at the Pilot Truck Stop. Video footage of the pumps was reviewed

GREENSBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Sunday, June 19, officers were flagged down by an individual who stated he wanted to harm himself. The individual was transported to Good Samaritan for a mental evaluation.

On Sunday, June 19, officers responded to the area West Broad Street in reference to a disabled vehicle in the roadway. The vehicle was found to not have valid insurance and registration. The owner was notified, and the vehicle was towed.

On Sunday, June 19, officers responded to the area of Old Eatonton Road in reference to a sexual harassment complaint. The complainant stated that an employee of the hotel told her that she would have to have sex with him in order to stay at the hotel. The complainant stated that a church paid for her stay, and she did not want to provide a name or description of the employee or wanted police to speak with the individual in fear of retaliation and her not having another place to stay. The complainant was advised to call 911 if she had any more issues.

On Sunday, June 19, officers assisted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office with the arrest of Steven Jernigan, 46, of Greensboro. Jernigan had active warrants for arrest out of Greene County. After a brief foot pursuit in the area of Pool Road, Jernigan was captured and turned over to deputies. GPD officers also secured a warrant for obstruction of law enforcement against Jernigan.

On Sunday, June 19, officers responded to the area of East Broad Street in reference to a verbal dispute. The complainant stated that an individual pressure washing the parking lot became upset when she drove over his equipment. The individual stated that he put up cones to prevent anyone from driving in the area where he was working, but he was not yelling, he was talking loudly because the machine was on at the time she ran over the equipment. The complainant was advised that he did not break any laws and she became upset and drove over his equipment again.

On Monday, June 20, officers responded to the area of Old Eatonton Road in reference to a verbal dispute. The complainant stated that he and his girlfriend had an argument after he found out she cheated on him. Officers spoke with the girlfriend, and she stated that they were no longer a couple. Both parties were advised to stay away from each other.

On Monday, June 20, officers responded to the area of South Main Street in reference to an animal at large. The complainant stated that he injured himself running from a raccoon that was attempting to attack him. The raccoon was put down by officers and the incident was turned over to animal control.

On Monday, June 20, officers responded to the area of South Walnut Street in reference to a complaint of a gun being pulled out. The complainant stated that he had an argument with his girlfriend, so he decided to leave the residence. While trying to leave, the complainant stated that his girlfriend hit him several times and pushed him to the ground causing a scratch on his knee. The complainant stated that when he left, he saw his girlfriend’s father at the store near Oak Street. The complainant stated that the father, Danny Porter, 43, of Greensboro, got out of his vehicle with a silver handgun and cocked it back while walking toward him. The complainant stated that he went inside the store and Porter turned around and left. After speaking with witnesses, a warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon was issued for Porter. The next day, officers arrested Porter on the warrant.

On Monday, June 20, while patrolling the area of North East Street, officers observed a vehicle in which the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Officers initiated a traffic stop and Alisa Victoria Smith, 35, of Greensboro was arrested on charges of a seatbelt violation and driving while her license was suspended.

On Monday, June 20, while patrolling the area of Rachel Street, officers observed an individual in the area who had been previously banned from the property of the Greensboro Village Apartments. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend the male, who was identified as, Al Treyvon Alexander, 23, of Union Point. Alexander was arrested on the charge of criminal trespassing.

On Monday, June 20, while patrolling the area of East South Street, officers observed a vehicle in the parking lot of Bill’s Dollar Store after hours. Officers made contact with the driver, who was identified as Jackson Reid Kirby, 17, of Buckhead. After further investigation, it was discovered that he was in possession of marijuana and alcohol. Kirby’s parents were notified, and he was cited for underage possession of alcohol and possession of marijuana (less than 1ounce).

On Tuesday, June 21, officers responded to the area of MLK Jr. Drive in reference to a financial card theft complaint. The complainant stated that his debit card was taken from his home and was charged a total of $700 in transactions. The incident was turned over to investigators.

On Tuesday, June 21, officers responded to the area of Rachel Street in reference to an upset parent. The complainant stated that she was struck on the shoulder and the right side of the head with a wooden brush. After observing physical injuries, the mother, who was identified as Tushon Renee Callaway, 27, of Greensboro was arrested on charges of simple battery under the family violence statue and first-degree cruelty to children.

On Tuesday, June 21, officers responded to the area of Rachel Street in reference to a criminal trespassing complaint. The complainant stated that her ex-boyfriend was at her back door and refused to leave. Officers were unable to make contact with the ex-boyfriend. The complainant was advised of the TPO process.

On Wednesday, June 22, while patrolling the area of Tiger Drive, officers observed a vehicle with a tint violation. Officers made contact with the driver, Ratrez Saveon Brown, 19, of Greensboro and passenger, Alek Suquan Perry, 21, of Greensboro. After further investigation, Brown was arrested and transported to the jail on charges of a tint violation, possession of schedule II drugs, drugs not in original container, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, driving in violation of restrictions and possession of marijuana-less than 1 oz. Perry was arrested on charges of possession, possession of schedule II drugs, drugs not in the original container and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

On Thursday, June 23, while patrolling the area of South Main Street, officers observed a vehicle in violation of a tag light requirement. Officers initiated a traffic stop and the driver Amariah Harrison, 18, of Greensboro was arrested on charges of a child safety restraint violation, no valid insurance, no valid registration, a tag light requirement. Harrison was also served a warrant out of Athens for failure to appear.

On Friday, June 24, officers responded to the area of Apalachee Avenue in reference to a verbal dispute. The complainant stated that someone had burned his work boots. Officers made contact with the other party, and she stated that he became upset and started tearing up the bedroom and wanted him to leave the property. There was no proof of his personal items being burned. Both parties agreed to separate for the rest of the day.

On Friday, June 24, officers met with an individual who stated that during her custody exchange with her ex-husband, he has touched her inappropriately. The complainant was advised to call 911 before meeting with him so that the exchange could be done in the presence of an officer.

On Friday, June 24, officers responded to the area of Sycamore Apartments in reference to a domestic dispute. After an investigation, a warrant for second-degree criminal damage to property was issued for Derrick Conrad Hunter, 38, of Madison.

On Saturday, June 25, while patrolling the area of South Main Street, officers were flagged down by a complainant who wanted to report a stolen wallet. The complainant stated that he made a purchase at Valero Gas Station in the amount of $20 and forgot to pick his wallet up from the counter. The complainant stated that he returned to the store and the wallet that contained $2,000 in cash and a debit card was gone. The complainant stated that he received a call from Netspend stating that a transaction was made in the area of Decatur that he did not authorize. The incident was turned over to investigators.

On Saturday, June 25, officers responded to the area of Old Eatonton Road in reference to a simple battery complaint. The complainant stated that she was struck by a male after she asked him for 75 cents. Due to lack of evidence, both parties were advised to stay away from each other.

On Saturday, June 25, while patrolling the area of North East Street, officers observed a vehicle run a redlight onto East Broad Street. Officers initiated a traffic stop, and Julie Lynn Schnell, 53, of Greensboro was arrested on charges of failure to stop at a red light and driving under the influence of alcohol.

On Saturday, June 25, while patrolling the area of East Broad Street, officers observed an individual sitting on the ground with a Corona beer bottle at the Exxon. Officers made contact with the individual, identified as Turcios Balcarel Ubaldo De Jesus, 31, of Greensboro. De Jesus was arrested on the charge of public drunkenness.

On Saturday, June 25, officers responded to the area of West Richland Avenue in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was towed.

On Saturday, June 25, while patrolling the area of East Broad Street, officers observed a vehicle in which the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Officers initiated a traffic stop, and Bernardo Vaquero Donu, 52, of Lincolnton was arrested on charges of a seatbelt violation and DUI.

For the week of June 19-22, the Greensboro Police Department responded to five accidents, and 45 citations were issued.
