Even though neither of Lake Oconee Academy’s basketball teams made the postseason, both had several players earn All-Region honors.
In total, six LOA athletes received postseason awards.
For the Titans, two players made the All-Region team. Senior Corrion Jernigan led the way with a second-team selection, while fellow senior Henry Hynes earned honorable mention.
Jernigan averaged 13.8 points per game and set a program record with 66 steals in a single season. Hynes averaged 8.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game and finished his career with 113 made three-pointers.
LOA boys head coach Josiah Rechenbach praised his seniors’ contributions.
“I am really proud of Corrion, Henry, and our other senior guard, CJ Taylor,” Rechenbach said. “All of them have played an important role in building the foundation of our program.
Their commitment and work ethic will be missed.”
The Titans finished 5-21 in 2025-26 but hope to improve next season with a young core returning.
“I feel good about what we have coming back,” Rechenbach said. “I think we can keep moving in the right direction.”
On the girls’ side, four players earned All-Region recognition. Senior Ansleigh Padgett was named to the first team, and sophomore Melly Cheeley made the second team. Junior Jessica White and sophomore Kaitlyn Mamay received honorable mentions.
Padgett led the Lady Titans with roughly 15 points per game, while Cheeley was one of the team’s top rebounders.
LOA girls head coach Josh Seymour said all four players were deserving of the accolades.
“I’m so proud of this team and everything they accomplished this season,” Seymour said. “Their dedication, teamwork, and perseverance made this year unforgettable. Keep carrying that confidence forward — the best is still ahead.”
The Lady Titans finished with a 7-17 record, missing the postseason for the first time in several years. However, they return a strong, young core, with Padgett as the only senior.
“They knew they weren’t the most talented team out there, and we got counted out early,” Seymour said. “But their determination and grit stood out. We knew it was Ansleigh’s team, and after that, there was a drop-off — yet many players stepped up. I’m super proud of them.”
