Commissioners approve plat request, roadwork

GREENE COUNTY

The Greene County Board of Commissioners discussed multiple developments during the Jan. 13 meeting after spending an hour and a half on the Harbor Pointe proposal, which it rejected.

Shortly after the board unanimously voted against Macallan LLC’s preliminary plat request, the commissioners heard a Final Plat request by Falcon Design Consultants LLC.

The civil engineering company presented its proposal titled The Bluffs at Carey Station (Phase 1), labeled under Planned Unit Development (PUD) zoning. According to the agenda request, the proposed site will cover 44.65 acres, containing 90 lots: 18.57 acres in lots, 6.58 acres in right-of-way, and 19.50 acres of open space.

The Bluffs at Carey Station is depicted as a single-family home development that will be located on the west side of Carey Station Road.

The board voted unanimously to approve the final plat request.

Shortly before the meeting concluded, the commissioners discussed intersection improvements for Willow Run Road and Towne Center Parkway.

The agenda request noted that during their March 27, 2024, meeting, the board proceeded with engineering work to determine “various intersections for safety improvements.”

P.C. Simonton Engineering determined that Willow Run Road and Towne Center Parkway would benefit from right-turn lanes. The right turn lane on Willow Run Road would be constructed in the area approaching Highway 44, while the Town Center Parkway construction would take place as it approaches Walker Church Road.

Fortis Siteworks made the lowest bid for the project’s development at $305,956.

The board of commissioners voted unanimously to award the contract to Fortis Siteworks.
