Victory Train is an early childhood nonprofit serving children ages zero through five in Greene County.
The local organization recently celebrated the Christmas season at a holiday event, gifting educational toys and books to nearly 450 children in the program.
According to the nonprofit, Victory Train’s primary mission is to end poverty cycles within “a single generation,” by encouraging parents to work with their children as their “first and best teacher.”
Victory Train provides parents with weekly support through coaching and the delivery of educational materials to their doorsteps, free of charge.
The program also supports children through grade school, providing additional educational materials each month.
Victory Train’s recent holiday event included contributions from both parent coaches and volunteer “delivery angels” who distribute toys and books to the children’s homes. The contributors work to ensure the children receive “learning-focused gifts” to help them be ready for school, engage in hands-on exploration, and develop early literacy skills.
“Victory Train would not be possible without our dedicated parent coaches, delivery angels, and numerous volunteers,” said Theresa Kemp, president of the nonprofit. “Because of their commitment, Victory Train is thriving, reaching more families, and making a measurable difference in children’s lives.”
