Mary Ann Parrish (née Carr), age 96, of Greensboro, GA, passed away peacefully at home with her family on December 24, 2025.
Ann was born on October 9, 1929, in Toomsboro, Georgia, to Alton Emmett Carr and Elise Rozar Carr.
She graduated from Toomsboro High School in 1946. Shortly thereafter, her family moved to White Plains and later to Greensboro.
While working at the local “picture show” selling tickets, she met Marcus Harold “Prince” Parrish, the projectionist. They married in 1949 and shared 75 years of marriage.
Ann worked for several years at Channell Super Valu and later began a long career at BankSouth, where customers loved her for her warm smile and helpfulness. She retired in 2010 at age 81 after 28 years of service and often remarked she had retired too soon because she loved her work at the bank.
Ann cherished her family. She is survived by her daughter, Patti Ann Stansell (Calvin) of Watkinsville, GA, her son, Anthony Scott Parrish (Kim) of Greensboro, and daughter-in-law, Donna Parrish, of Savannah, GA. She also leaves behind six grandchildren— Matthew Parrish (Ann Douglas) of Richmond, VA; Leighann Rosenfeld (Dr. Victor Rosenfeld) of Savannah, GA; Andrew Parrish (Claire) of Savannah, GA; David Parrish of Chattanooga, TN; Shannon Stansell of Athens, GA; and Bo Stansell of Atlanta, GA—and six great-grandchildren: Max, Evan, and Olivia Rosenfeld, and Joel, John, and Parks Parrish, all of Savannah, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Harold “Prince” Parrish, and her son, Rev. Ronald H.
“Doc” Parrish, her parents, and her sister Evelyn Cook.
Ann will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to family, and her genuine joy in serving others. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family received friends on Tuesday, December 30, from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA.
A graveside service followed at 12:00 PM at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro. Serving as pallbearers were Ann’s grandsons: Matthew, Andrew, David, and Bo.
