Gransden lights up Festival Hall stage

Joe Gransden and his band bring to life the music of the big bands, featuring songs from old and new.

With a singing voice compared to Chet Baker and Frank Sinatra, Gransden has performed around the world and released 19 albums/CDs.

Greensboro’s Festival Hall was sold out last Thursday for Gransden’s two-hour program that included a champagne toast to kick off the second act after a brief intermission.

In the words of the great Smokey Robinson: “Joe has an innate ability to connect with an audience. His singing and trumpet playing are world-class. Throw in his 16-piece big band, and you have something very special!”

At Festival Hall, Gransden teamed up with seven excellent musicians, including tenor sax player John Sandfort, well known locally through the Jazz Legacy Project, as well as his debut hit “Southbound” featuring Gransden on trumpet, Michael T. Jones playing piano, Clay Hulet on drums, and bassist Craig Shaw.

It was a great start to Christmas and the holiday season for Lake Country.
