Woman flees into front door of home, out the back

A Madison woman managed to elude Morgan County deputies briefly after fleeing from a traffic stop in the early morning hours of Dec. 10, but she was later picked up at a neighbor’s house.

Pamela Lewis, 27, of Madison, is being charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, felony obstruction, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug-related objects.

According to the reports, Deputy Joseph Wood was conducting a business check at the Relax Inn when he saw a grey van matching the description of one law enforcement was looking for.

Wood attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the van near Greensboro Highway, but it accelerated and turned onto Turner Road.

The van then pulled into the parking lot of Jackson Towing, and the driver, later identified as Lewis, got out, left the van running, and fled into a house at 1231 Turner Rd, behind the business.

Lewis made it through the front door, and several deputies converged on the scene.

Apparently, Lewis ran out the back door of the house immediately after entering it.

Deputies questioned individuals inside the house about Lewis’ whereabouts, but all three people on the scene said she had been at the house earlier and did not know where she was now.

Personnel from the Madison Police Department and Morgan County Sheriff’s Office eventually entered the home to search it.

Warrants were issued for Lewis's arrest, who was found in a home across the street from 1231 Turner Rd.
