LOA school resource officer fired by sheriff’s office

Greene County Deputy Jonathan Franco has been fired by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office for violating the deputy’s oath of office and having an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to a letter from Chief Deputy Richard Campbell filed in Franco’s personnel records.

GDOT meeting to update Highway 44 plans

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has called a public meeting May 7 to present slight changes made in the project to widen Highway 44 to four lanes through Greene and Putnam counties.The Public Information Meeting will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the Putnam County Administration Building.
According to the GADOE, Greene County had 2,308 students during 2010-11 with 56.7% of students missing fewer than five days, 31.3% missing between six and 15 days, and 12% missing more than 15 days.

GCSS attendance campaign sees success early, improvement at all schools
