Stormy weather forced Eatonton’s Memorial Day ceremony to be canceled. Instead of honoring the fallen service members at Putnam County’s Veterans Wall of Honor Park, everyone met Monday for fellowship at the VFW Post 6686.However, the bad weather did not keep the lawbreakers away.

Greensboro City Council taking time on hiring city manager

There is still no official Greensboro city manager. Mayor Corey Williams nominated Sylvester city manager Autron Hayes for the position at the May 6 council meeting. In a split 3-2 vote, the city council supported the mayor’s nomination.It was expected to become official at Monday’s meeting.

Morgan County Elections: Sheriff race headed to runoff, others conclude

The crowded field of seven candidates for Morgan County sheriff has been culled, but a runoff is almost inevitable. Captain Joseph Pritchett of the MCSO received nearly 35 percent of the vote, and Tyler Hooks trailed by less than 300 votes with 28.28 percent. Ryan Morgan placed third with 16.
