There’s a new sheriff in town.Republican Tyler Hooks will be the next Morgan County sheriff following a significant victory over Democrat Derrick Reid Tuesday.Hooks won with 71.1 percent of the vote (9,293) to Reid’s 28.90 percent (3,778).

During last Tuesday's meeting, the Morgan County Board of Commissioners green-lit plans for an event facility at the Georgia Safari Conservation Park (GSCP) in Madison.According to the Planning Commission’s report, the park submitted a conditional use request for an event facility in 2015.

Local man crushed by car in storage lot

A Greensboro man was found dead beneath a vehicle in the storage lot behind Roper’s Collision Center on Union Point Highway at 9:27 p.m. on the night of Oct. 29, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
