Texas man drowns in Lake Oconee

A Texas man’s body was found near the shore of Hixon’s Bluff nearly 24 hours after he went missing on the evening of May 1.The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and Greene County Fire Rescue began searching for 54-year-old Bertram Foster at around 9:30 p.m.

Morgan County woman killed in tragic accident

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the death of a Morgan County woman who was killed April 26 when she fell out of a vehicle traveling on Linger Longer Road in the Reynolds Lake Oconee area of Greene County.

Madison native appointed to U.S. Naval Academy

Athens Academy welcomed Rep. Mike Collins (GA-10) to campus on April 21 for a service academy signing ceremony honoring Brinkley Williams.Brinkley, the daughter of Annie B. and Philip Williams of Madison, has been appointed to the United States Naval Academy.
The detour is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 27, and is expected to last for 90 days, weather permitting. CONTRIBUTED

Old Mill Road detour in Morgan County begins May 27

Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will implement a detour to accommodate construction activities for the new interchange project along I-20 at Old Mill Road in Morgan County. The detour is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 27, and is expected to last for 90 days, weather permitting.

Multi-vehicle crash in Putnam County yields minor injuries
