Madison man charged with Athens murder

A Madison man was arrested in Newton County on Dec. 19 and charged with aggravated assault, felony murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.

Woman gets 20 years for manslaughter

A Morgan County woman accepted a plea deal to serve 20 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter on Dec. 17, according to Ocmulgee Circuit District Attorney T. Wright Barksdale.Karen Lindsey, 58, was arrested May 31 on charges related to the death of her husband, Jack Lindsey, who was 76 years old.

Two shot at party, but by whom?

Madison Police arrested an Eatonton man on aggravated assault charges after a husband and wife were shot during an altercation at a party attended by mostly family members on Meadow Ridge Road in the early morning hours of Dec. 14.

When Joe Thompson and James Gregory agreed to meet at Eatonton City Hall in June 1974, they had no idea of what they were getting into. They also had no uniforms, no equipment, and no guarantee of income.

Prior Farms single-family rental homes open in Madison

Woda Cooper Companies Inc. and Parallel Housing Inc. celebrated the opening of Prior Farms in Madison with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Dec. 16. The $18.5 million development features 40 single-family rental homes at 1001 Harrow Street, adjacent to the Carmichael Commons townhomes.

Reynolds vandal arrested in Baldwin County

An Eatonton man who has been accused of vandalizing Reynolds Lake Oconee businesses and vehicles was picked up by Greene County deputies at the Baldwin County jail on Dec. 5 after he was detained there.
