Madison Council approves zoning for affordable housing

The Madison City Council dealt with a full slate of zoning issues at its most recent meeting held on May 8, approving another Low Income Tax Housing Credit (LITHC) development that represents the fourth such project brought to Madison in the last decade.

The Madison City Council approved a text amendment and expanded a height limitation in its zoning ordinances during its last meeting that will pave the way for an upscale Fairfield Inn and Suites Hotel with 84 rooms. Fairfield currently has a hotel in Athens and another in Milledgeville.

Georgia Supreme Court denies Perrault new trial

Prison walls will apparently remain Michael Seth Perrault’s home for the rest of his life. On May 2, the Supreme Court of Georgia denied the former Eatonton Police officer’s request for a new trial. Perrault was found guilty of the murder of his wife in a February 2022 trial.
