Freedom, glory fly high at Lake Oconee 4th of July Boat Parade

Freedom and glory kept flying at the fourth annual Lake Oconee 4th of July Boat Parade on Tuesday. The parade took place at the northern end of Lake Oconee in Morgan County near Buckhead. A record 21 boats showed up for this year’s event, and all of them came decked out in patriotic attire.

Flock camera alert leads to arrest

A man described in reports as homeless was apprehended by Morgan County deputies in Rutledge on June 28, after a Flock license plate reader camera alerted law enforcement that a car stolen out of Chattanooga, Tenn., three days prior was traveling westbound on Hwy. 278 in Morgan County.

Woman dies after accident with deer

A woman driving a scooter last night was thrown from the scooter when she hit a deer, according to authorities. She succumbed to her injuries later at Putnam General Hospital.  The victim, Misty Renee Hunnicutt, 48, of Eatonton, was traveling along Wards Chapel Road around 8:30 p.m.

Eatonton burglars caught in Tennille

A former Eatonton resident reportedly drove back to her previous town and stole approximately $20,000 worth of equipment. A week later she was back again, being booked into Putnam County jail.
