MORGAN COUNTY
An 81-year-old Morgan County woman was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta Aug. 17 after a dog attack at a home on Apalachee Way in Buckhead. Janet Morrison suffered cuts, bruises and a broken hip during the attack.
Deputy Kenneth Smith was dispatched to the scene after Morrison called 911 and said she was being attacked by two dogs that were still circling her.
When Smith arrived, Morrison was being helped by a local citizen and a registered nurse. Deputy Smith saw one of the two dogs still walking around the house and kept the scene safe while the complainant was being treated.
Morrison was then flown by helicopter to Grady Hospital, according to a police report.
The owner of the dogs arrived a short time later and was extremely remorseful about the attack and cooperated fully with Morgan County Animal Control, which removed both dogs from the home. It was later determined the dogs pulled down a wire fence attached to a gate and climbed through it.
As of Aug. 22, Morrison remained hospitalized.
