Two women attacked by dogs in Madison

Madison police officers were notified about unrestrained canines chasing and biting people in the area of Madison Avenue April 25. According to reports, one dog was black and grey and the other brown, a witness said the brown dog was a boxer. Sgt. Jeremy Hoffman responded to the 566 Madison Avenue and found a woman experiencing a panic attack after being chased by the dogs. She had fallen and sustained cuts to her ankle.

The other dog reportedly bit a woman at the Sinclair business on Hancock Street. Officer Mike Maxwell made contact with the victim who told him that a brown boxer was across the street staring at her when she got out of her car. When she opened the back door to retrieve her purse the dog charged her and grabbed her hair in an apparent effort to pull her to the ground, according to the reports. The dog then bit her left forearm and began shaking its head. A passerby came along and started yelling at the dog who then released her. EMS was notified due to the puncture wounds on her arm.

Morgan County Animal Control found the dogs at a Maple Street address and they were quarantined. One was a fawn female boxer and the other was a brindle male mixed breed.

Citations have been issued to both dog owners, according to a report
