Sunny skies bring 100-plus runners to 5k Doggy Dash

Greensboro’s annual Doggy Dash, a scenic 5k along the historic sector of downtown and beyond, was held Saturday under sunny skies. Over 100 runners had registered for the event and brought along their favorite furry canine to support their efforts. The run was organized 14 years ago by Dr. David Little of Durham Veterinary Clinic and his wife, Nancy.

Avid trail runners, Lewis saw an opportunity to support the Circle of Friends Animal Society (COFAS) whose mission is to address animal overpopulation in Greene and Putman Counties through spade and neuter programs and pet owner education. COFAS is an all-volunteer organization with 100 percent of funding going to support animal services.
